Visual Communication for Students’ Creative Thinking in the Design Studio: Translating Filmic Spaces into Spatial Design

Representing visual experiences is an essential part of architectural design education for creativity. The representation creative ideas relates to the ability communicate spatial concepts. This study examined whether filmic spaces could function as communication enhance students’ thinking in architecture. It explored how creativity can be supported throughout studio with a conceptual tool that translates into design. To investigate ways translate space tools thinking, we conducted first-year university students. Focusing on using various elements film, including movement, frame, montage, light, and color, scene changes represent languages, curriculum was developed implemented Visual Communication Design Studio one semester, stimulating students engage expressing their three-dimensional spaces. overall results suggested method used emphasizing role communication, leading improved processes.
